About ISLE
The universe was moving fast with the emergence of new horizons in the science and technology of lighting in the early eighties, there was a strongly felt need for a neutral technical platform for the field of lighting and related technologies in India as well. In response to this need, the coming together of 17 visionary lighting professionals initiated the process in 1983 that resulted in the registration of the Indian Society of Lighting Engineers in November 1984.
The Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE) is a professional body in the field of illuminating engineering with a broad based membership of scientists, engineers, architects, academicians, researchers, designers and others interested in lighting issues.
ISLE is affiliated to the CIE, the International Commission on Illumination. It is also a member of Lux Pacifica, a lighting body that represents 60% of the world’s population.
It is closely associated with the Bureau of Indian Standards, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Power, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Electronics Information Technology and the Electrical Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India.
Background
Isle is a group of members belonging to different fraternities like lighting OEMs, industries, institutions, self-employed professionaIs, lighting designers, architects, lighting controllers & enthusiasts creating special lighting effects / applications, dealers & distributors. This group is responsible to promote & share the latest developments
Members are also active participants in industry associations like the Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India, the Glass Manufacturers Association, and the Indian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association, Electrical Merchant Association.
Members represent national bodies such as the Development Council of the Ministry of Industry, Confederation of Indian Industry, and Bureau of Indian Standards. They are also associated with research organizations like the National Physical Laboratory, Central Building Research Institute, the Electrical Research and Development Association, and other various premium institutes of India.

To establish a neutral fraternity of Lighting professionals to further the cause of lighting development in India for the benefit of its people at large and to put India on par with the global lighting community in terms of its lighting knowledge base and applications.

A non-profit organization to bring together all professionals connected with aspects of light and lighting related technology for the upgradation of knowledge and improvement of standards, to facilitate the overall interest of members and enhance skill development, to awaken lighting interest in the students and to create a connectivity with the global lighting knowledge community.
OUR OBJECTIVES
Maintaining liaison and technical interaction with national/international organisations related to the science, technology, standardisation and art in the fields of light and lighting.
Co-operation with the Bureau of Indian Standards in their standardisation work in the field of lighting.
Providing guidance to young engineers for career improvement in illumination engineering.
Organizing exhibitions and trade fairs of lighting and allied industries.
Our Activities
ISLE conduct conferences,seminars,exhibitions,workshops,panel discussions,product presentations,education,lighting courses,scholarships,research projects,standardisation,lighting design competition,and special events etc. throughout the year to discuss, promote and display state-of-the-art technologies, systems, products, and services. we have got almost 250+ members and conduct monthly meetings..
We ISLE MP State Centre request and invite companies to extend their support in our mission of sharing the best of illumination be it Design, Technology, Standardization, Education, Marketing, Testing, Commissioning and support services.
Organisation
State Centres and Local Centres
Isle operation is in accordance with its bye-laws and election of Governing Body is held every 4 years to select the council members. Council members elect the President and Hon. General Secretary and Vice President and Treasurer and other Director positions for various activities.
The bye-laws of the Society provide for opening of State Centres subject to fulfilling the requisite strength of members and other criteria.
